Isaac Rutenberg is an Advisor to the CEO at CIFOR-ICRAF, an international science research institution based in Nairobi, Kenya. He has 20+ years of experience supporting innovation and innovators across sectors and geographies. He is an Associate Professor of ICT Policy and Innovation at Strathmore University in Nairobi, where he founded the Center for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) and served as its first Director from 2012-2022. At CIPIT, Prof. Rutenberg made contributions to global discussions around data governance, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and contextualized innovation, particularly from the perspective of the Global South. Now at CIFOR-ICRAF, he is building a program supporting scientists and policymakers at the intersection of emerging technologies, agriculture, biodiversity, and climate change.
