The MENA AI Observatory is a key component of the project titled ”Governing Responsible AI & Data in the MENA Region,” a project the Access to Knowledge for Development Center (A2K4D) at the American University in Cairo (AUC) is currently working on in partnership with the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) at Birzeit University (BZU) in Palestine. The MENA AI Observatory has been established to capture the wealth of knowledge, research results, and other activities produced or collected by the project and other activities, with a view to creating a comprehensive regional resource with sufficient Arabic content, that can be used for learning, advocacy and networking to bring change. In this context, the MENA AI Observatory has been created, serving as a platform for a wide repository of material created from a multitude of sources throughout the MENA region.
The Knowledge Hub showcases the diverse range of ongoing research and country-specific AI and data governance material, presented in various forms including research papers, policy-oriented papers and briefs, visuals, and other multimedia outputs, aimed at a wide audience of both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The Knowledge Hub serves as a useful resource for researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders across the MENA region, providing insights into the complex and evolving field of responsible AI and data governance.
