Salwa Tohme Tawk

Professor of Agriculture Economics Farming Systems, Lebanese University

Salwa Tohmé Tawk studied at the American University of Beirut and completed a M.Sc. in Plant Production and Protection; she holds a “Diplôme en Etudes Approfondies” and PhD in Farming Systems and Sustainable Development from the "Institut National de Recherche Agronomique Paris-Grignon France". She is an agriculture engineer and a professor in agriculture economics farming systems. Her research and involvement in development projects focus on communication platform development, Regional Diagnosis, Post-harvest Losses, Business Planning, Needs & Value chain assessment. She carried out, as a researcher, studies to understand and improve Food security in rural and urban settings, but also to promote a resilient and sustainable food system in Lebanon, Jordan and Yemen; she also works on program development for capacity building and is a capacity building expert on business management for farmers and cooperatives.
